If they have head lice, then it wasn’t meant to be. OR. . .

|

. . . You can pray they look as hot as Demi Moore in G.I. Jane.  If not, you can always hit on her BEST FRIEND.

Welcome back to the Lab where running Game is our business and business is GOOOOOOD! ! !  Where we break down the results of the previous routine that could get the coveted “STAMP OF APPROVAL” or the saddened “THUMBS DOWN UNAPPROVED”.  This past week we went for the “BEST FRIEND TEST” that came from the GAME and has been seen on the Stylelife Academy Forum.  This passed many sets back in the day, but does it still work today?  Well, that is why we test it and why we check the results.  Our testers are always the very people that make the GAME a very important role in our lives.  And these testers are: YOU!

Many guys have read the book, but how many have actually tested the same routines or openers from the book?  How many guys test the openers they hear and see?  Well, this is the place to come and do so.  Always bringing the heat and always leaving them better than you found them.

Now, grab your shower caps and find your new best friend as we post the results of the BEST FRIENDS TEST:

1. Does it work successfully?

Hands down, all the testers said it worked successfully.  5/5

2. How difficult is this routine to master?

All of the testers stated that it was very EASY to master. 5/5

3. Did you get called out on using this routine?

* One tester got called out ONCE (see Metz below). Still a good rate for not getting called out, (worked 59 out of 60 times).  All the other testers said they didn’t get called out.  5/5

4. What is the hook point strength of this routine?

Testers averaged a pretty high hook point strength on this routine.  3.5/5

5. Rapport building strength?

The testers averaged a medium Rapport Building Strength.  3/5

6. Your PUA-AFC level?

Every tester fell between AFC and PUA.  (No PUAs and no one said they were an AFC).

7. Number of times tested?

Routine was tested 60+ times.

8. Any additional insight?

“The conversations can spin in all directions: ask them when did they meet, if they are good friends, tell her that good friends have at least 3 things in common and find out with them what they are => you are IN.
Use a story after: the girl that asked me this question …
-Angelsin

“I won’t go into detail about all the sets. Prior to this week, I used this when I first started and didn’t get called out. That was a year ago and still today, no one called me out. I mention the 1 call out because the girls thought I was just making this stuff up…they didn’t buy any of it at all. They didn’t know the origin of it or consider it a “pickup line” but they were being feisty.

Any object works, although shampoo does have a little bit of a shock effect…something like that is kinda personal to ask someone after you just met them so quickly. But laughter always follows when you finish the routine.

It crossed my mind that not once when I used it, the girls didn’t glance at each other. I have the backup plan incase they don’t, but never resorted to it…weird!” -Metz

“I actually preferred when the girls “failed”. they started qualifying themselves immediately, explaining why they would have failed. It’s fun when they fail it! You must come off as natural and not forced, find out what they do, then with great energy go “oh! an ex of mine showed me this cosmo quiz a few months back, you guys have to try it, I want to see if it’s real!” Also explain it with high energy, then you can quickly move into body language observing with them on other people.” -20Spot

“If a girl ever failed I would say, “how do you two know each other?” make a link or bust on them.

I actually had one girl turn away and look at a different friend which turned out to be her big sister.

If the girl answered immediately I would keep asking her random questions and then say, “yea none of those matter I just wanted to see how much you trusted me/like me/how gullible you were, loser.” -Prodigy Alpha

“It works to our advantage if you can stack with the “telepathic” vibe that you create in the set. Do a quick and simple mind-reading test on them that gets them to answer the same thing at the same time. (me: “Pick a number 1 to 5 in your heads. Okay, what number did she pick?” her: “well i picked 3…” other girl: “OMG so did i!’).” -TicoRicoSuave

“This is my favorite routine to use. I use it after opening the set — mostly in a “two set”. It works 9 out of 10 times. Interestingly, when it “doesn’t work” it is because the girls are kind of mundane or even boring.” -Menace

9. Suggested Additions of Modifications to routine (if any):

“Just in general, if you are going to use ANY routine, always keep your game face on. I used it once just out of my back pocket and just kind of threw it out there to see what would happen. The results kind of didn’t go the way I planned. The other 3 times were like clock work.” -drewder

“Just make it fun, banter with them, use mind-reading tests…It’s good when you form a “psychic circle” with them when performing the mind-reading test. Just hold hands with each other and do the test…Great for kino and it definitely creates that connection with your set.”-TicoRicoSuave

“I don’t use shampoo, I ask if they have ever liked each others boyfriends sexually. This gets them a little embarrassed and simply for fun to work off of.” -20Spot

“Don’t ask about the shampoo … be creative. I ask them about their favorite color and then go into the white chamber 4 questions game (which includes what is your fav color).” -angelsin

10. What shampoo did the girls use(just for fun)?

“Garnier Fructis was what 5 girls said.” -drewder

“Herbal Essence seemed to be the most popular answer. I had a girl say she uses Right Guard Body and hair.” -Prodigy Alpha

11. Did you get to see it in their shower?

“Right Guard Body and hair girl wasn’t lying…” - Prodigy Alpha

Wow.  This one MADE the PICK UP LABS STAMP of APPROVAL and Prodigy Alpha gets the secret hidden prize for answering questions 10 and 11.  I would FedEx it to him, but I will be seeing him in a few weeks at the -SOLD OUT- FALL 2009 Stylelife Academy World Conference.  It is going to be awesome seeing all of the people going and hanging out with some of the greatest guys in the community.

Come back later in the week.  We will show you how to tell the DHV of changing a flat tire with a STRAW from the bar.

So, who did you Fuck, Marry, Kill today?

|

This is a game that has been around for a LONG LONG time.  I had other plans for using a new PICK UP LABS routine, but when TECHFALL did his breakdown on the Stylelife Academy Elite Forum page, I told him to set it up and I would love to test it.  Guys have been eating it up on the forum for a while and how can I pass up giving a gold nugget to the beloved fans of this site?

Fuck, Marry, Kill has been broken down into so many different games and sugar coated, but to my knowledge, no one has broken it down to the science that we have presented.  You can find a lot of the variations on WIKIPEDIA and even in recent media.  Howard Stern has done it on air.  The show 30 ROCK played it in their episode of “Up All Night” as Marry, Boff, Kill.  You can even find it in the ONION news paper.  Still, everyone played it as a game.  Here, we play it as a game, but also we look for preselection, qualification, escalation, kino, social proof and so much more.  Will all of these factors, why haven’t we done this before?

Who knows, but now it’s time to drag out the results from our incredible testers.  And the results are (drum roll, please):

1.  Does it work successfully?

All of the testers agreed that YES it does work successfully.  5/5

2.  How difficult is this routine to master?

For the most part, everyone said it was exceptionally easy.  4/5

3.  Did you get called out on using this routine?

Only one person was called out, and the target still had fun with it.  4/5

4.  What is the hook point strength of this routine?

All of the testers agreed that the hook point was pretty strong.  4/5

5.  Rapport building strength?

All of the testers agreed that the rapport building strength was pretty strong.  4/5

6.  Your AFC-PUA level?

All the testers were between an AFC and a PUA.

7.  Number of times tested?

29 times

8.  Any additional insight?

* * * It is a very versatile and fun game/routine to use, and it is very easy to learn.  Oh yeah, it is a good way to find out if a girl is bisexual.

This game is solid because it creates an US vs. THEM mentality and brings the girls into the “cool kids club.”

With being able to screen on so many levels and spawn anywhere with/from it, the sky is the limit!

Never looked at it that way.  This keeps getting better and better.

CONGRATS to TECHFALL because this routine gets the full STAMP OF APPROVAL.  Great job TECHFALL and all of our testers.  It was really cool being able to meet TECH at the Stylelife Conference.  I had no idea we would have something of his up for testing, but I was honored to use this more than once.  To be honest, I even ran it over the phone and asked girls if there was a celebrity they would FUCK, MARRY, KILL, who would it be?  Little did they know I was reading the full breakdown here and setting up day 2’s without a problem.

Come back at the end of the week for another routine that will rip off your eyebrows from across the street.  Are you game enough for that?

Keep Framing and Gaming.

The Apocalypse Opener Results

|

Well testing on the Apocalypse opener has closed. I was actually really worried when it started out many guys on the forum were attempting this but half assing it or sugar coating it. Which would instantly make you non-congruent. You don’t walk up and try something like this if you don’t have the balls to give it 100%!

But was glad to see many came through.

Would love to hear how testing this affected you in the comments below. You manned up and tested this, anything else I throw at you should be cake now!

Still working on the next mission, think I will tone things down with an easier opener I came up with when starting out.

Drewder one of our newest Stylelife Students did such an amazing job crunching data on this one, I am just going to put it below.

Really excited to see what 2009 has in store for Pick Up Labs. Keep sending mission suggestions for testing, this site will only be as badass as we make it.

1). Ratio for attempts and sex with women you test on?

3:24.  Yeah, that is 3 attempts were successful out of 24 attempts.  While it looks like 22 attempts didn’t sugar coat it or change it in the least.

1-5 scale puts this at a  #1 for weak.

2).  Does it open successfully?

Out of 8 people, 2 said it DOES NOT open well, while 6 said it DID open well. Although, 1 person didn’t use it correctly.

1-5 scale puts it at a #4 for opening well.

3).  Do you get a kiss almost instantly?

Out of 8 people, 1 person said “YES” while 7 others said “NO” (even though 1 tester didn’t run it correctly).

1-5 scale puts this at a #1 for WEAK.

4).  How difficult is this routine to master?

Out of 8, FOUR people said it was “EASY” to master, while FOUR said it was “HARD” to master (minus 1 for someone doing it incorrectly).

1-5 scale puts this at a 2.5, right in the middle.

5).  What level of comfort must be built before you can test?

Out of 8 testers, EVERYONE said that there was “LOW” to ZERO comfort level.

1-5 puts it at #1 for NO COMFORT NEEDED.

6).  Did you get called out using this routine?

Out of 8, only ONE person got called out, while SEVEN didn’t.  (minus 1)

1-5 puts it at #5 for great chance you won’t get called out.

7). What is the HOOK point strength of this routine?

Six out of Eight said it had a STRONG hook point, while TWO said it was WEAK (minus 1).

1-5 scale puts it at #5 for STRONG HOOK POINT.

8).  Rapport building strength?

Out of 8, Four said weak (minus 1) and four said it was STRONG.

1-5 puts it at #2.5.

9).  Your PUA-AFC level?

Seven out of EIGHT said they were above AFC but below PUA.  One person said they were VERY AFC.

Only 2 people answered the End Questions of “Does something this direct work? Will it work for you as well as it does for a coach?  Even if it doesn’t work, what will having the BALLS to try something like this do to your game?  Will it be easier on NEW YEARS EVE or over this weekend?”

And those answers are as followed:

1).  I don’t know of any coach that did it, but I am sure it can be done in the right frame. I felt it was all balls. Having friends there the first night was a great push, but I feel like I felt the delivery better when I did it alone. I didn’t do it on NYE but I rocked it over the weekend.

2).  To answer this directly, the apocalypse opener wasn’t anything special in this regard. Having never approached a girl before finding the community, the approach itself has always been what takes balls. For me, the words are interchangable–no matter what I say, I’m taking the same step out of my comfort zone. The apocalypse opener is no scarier than an opinion opener. But they’re both still a little scary.

Looked at in another way, though, I will hazard to say that there probably is something useful about trying this opener. The teasing I got from the second set on my appearance was such a jarring self-esteem hit that I think it will, in the long run, make me tougher. It reminded me of my first days trying the stylelife challenge. I was totally clueless and got a lot of negative reactions with my first approaches, but through my mistakes, I learned where the boundaries are. Indeed, from my brief experience with the apocalypse opener, I think I learned something about where the line is, and also where it isn’t. The first set I approached blew me out, but the blowout wasn’t any worse than an opinion-opener blowout.

In closing, even though it had it’s pluses and it’s minuses, the intent of this opener was to bring the girl home and have sex.  This only happened 3 times out of 22 NON-SUGAR COATED/RE-WORDED attempts* that were reported.  Although, it seems there wasn’t really any horrible out comes, only one person had a very negative experience and he didn’t use it properly.  I really wanted to disqualify his testing of it, but I also posted it myself as an example of what not following the approach could do.  There is a reason for the guidelines.  It seems like when they weren’t followed, the results were flawed.  Later on, the person said it is also making him stronger.  I liked that.  The WILL to never give up.

Rockin’ Out,

Drewder

Grading:

Hook point strength 5 out of 5

Rapport building strength 2.5 out of 5

Experience level needed to perform 2 out 5

Busted level 1 out of 7

So looks like a great routine to use to open, didn’t do so well for same night sex but it is an opener. Rapport was good but not great. Only 1 call out. You need to know the basics of opening to try this, but all guys who tested self admittedly still have a lot to learn.

The fact that no comfort needs to be built, and it can hook this hard, The Apocalypse Opener gets the Pick Up Labs Stamp of Approval!

The Cube testing results

|

First off, many guys have asked me how the contestants got on the VH1 show, well below is Brian and Greg discussing how it was right before the show started rolling. Part 2 of the vid will have one of the best FR’s I have ever heard! Will add it soon

Testing of The Cube

You guys brought the heat!

I am very impressed with the feedback on the testing of The Cube, and it was awesome that everyone was at a different level.

1 PUA

14 in between

4 AFC’s

17 of you came back saying how strong and effective this was in building rapport, and the majority also said that this rates high on hooking.

2 guys were asked where they learned this from, but no one was humiliated over it.  Even if you do get asked about it you can reference the book I linked in the mission like one tester did, or play it off like I do, “I learned it from a friend (I am your friend) and I thought it was cool, not sure where he learned it from” (which is true you don’t!) so this is a 100% honest response.

It looks like most people agreed this is for later in the interaction. When you are alone with her, on a day 2, somewhere a little more private and quieter is best.  I tried opening with it a few days ago and had 0% success. I figured it would work out that way, but hey anything for science!

This rated low on the difficulty scale to learn scale. While there are a few things you have to remember 4 guys said it was hard, once you perform it a few times it gets MUCH easier. You can always keep notes with you, I currently have a new bar bet I learned on the Elite forum in the notes section of my iPhone that I check before performing. 14 guys said this was not difficult to learn.

So with the testing of this mission over, it looks like The Cube kicked ass!

Grading:

Hook point strength 4 out of 5

Rapport building strength 5 out of 5

Experience level needed to perform 5 out 5

Busted level 4.5 out of 5

So this CLEARLY gets the Pick Up Labs stamp of approval. Not only can this routine be used in the club or at home, it is also a cool way to get to know someone on a deeper level instead of just using the standard interview questions.  Thanks for the help testing, new mission later this week!

-special thanks to Drewder, Jstyle, and Metz for help with the data!
